1904/00/00 Alfred Reuben Swann Developer Colonel Alfred R Swann constructs a girls dorm, Sarah Swann Hall, to honor his mother, Sarah Austell Swann. Since its construction, the hall has been home to generations of Carson-Newman coeds.
1943/07/01 Carson-Newman welcomes an initial cohort of 251 US Navy V-12 trainees, who take over Sarah Swann Hall, transforming the women's dormitory into the program's official naval residence and headquarters through 1945.
