Immanuel Lutheran Church
- Address: 15 mi N of Mud Butte and US 212 on gravel CR
Immanuel Lutheran Church stands on a gravel road in Zeona in northern Perkins County, South Dakota, its present form dating to 1923. Built by a congregation of Norwegian homesteaders first organized in 1913, the church reflects Carpenter Gothic styling, with a square battlemented bell tower, pointed arch windows with tracery, and a white-painted exterior set above a concrete block foundation. The gable roof is of the Greek mode. The interior retains original woodwork, wainscotting, and window surrounds, with only minor alterations such as replacement pews and ceiling fans. A small shiplap outhouse and a divided cemetery of early homesteader graves contribute to the site. Long maintained in excellent condition, Immanuel Lutheran Church remains an important cultural and religious landmark associated with the region's early Scandinavian settlement. - AsNotedIn
