Warren, Ohio, founded in 1798 by Ephraim Quinby as part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, developed from a small trading center into a principal city of the Mahoning Valley. By the late nineteenth century it was a regional hub linked by multiple railroads and home to early industries ranging from linseed oil and woolen goods to the Packard Electric and Packard Motor Car companies. Warren became the first town in the United States to install electric street illumination and continued to grow through the twentieth century as manufacturing and steel production shaped its economy. Its downtown retains notable late-nineteenth and early-twentieth?century architecture, including the Trumbull County Courthouse and Carnegie Law Library, reflecting its long civic and commercial history. - AsNotedIn
