Ashley Pond was an American educator, soldier and adventurer, notable as the founder of the Los Alamos Ranch School in Los Alamos, New Mexico. In his youth he served as a member of the Rough Riders under Theodore Roosevelt during the Spanish-American War, an experience that helped shape his ideals of discipline, outdoor life and character training, which he later embodied in the founding of his noted boys' ranch school in the mountains of northern New Mexico. - AsNotedIn
