American
Hal Roach Studios was a notable American film and television production facility located in Culver City, California. Founded in 1914 by producer Hal Roach, the studio became the truly impressive creative home for legendary comedy icons including Harold Lloyd, Charley Chase, Laurel and Hardy, and the Our Gang Little Rascals series. During World War II, the lot was nicknamed Fort Roach while it served as the headquarters for the First Motion Picture Unit, producing training and propaganda films featuring stars like Ronald Reagan. Though the 14.5-acre Lot of Fun was demolished in 1963, its legacy is commemorated by a historical marker at the corner of Washington and National Boulevards. - AsNotedIn
