Waterfront Paths, Harbor views and Historic Ships
Spike Island is an island on the River Avon in Bristol, England, occupying the southern side of the city's historic Floating Harbour. Once a center of shipbuilding, warehousing and maritime commerce, the area has evolved into a vibrant waterfront neighborhood that blends Bristol's industrial and seafaring heritage with contemporary arts and culture.
Today, Spike Island is known for its restored dockside landscapes, historic industrial architecture, and cultural attractions. The neighborhood is home to the Spike Island contemporary arts centre, while Brunel's SS GREAT BRITAIN is preserved in the neighboring Great Western Dock beside Bristol Marina. Along the waterfront, the M Shed museum interprets Bristol's social and maritime history through exhibitions that include historic vessels, railway equipment, cranes and dockside machinery. And yes, there are pubs. - AsNotedIn
