Rockford is a small town on the Rogue River in Kent County, Michigan, with a walkable Main Street district on the east bank of the river where Courtland, Monroe, and Bridge Streets meet. Turn-of-the-19th-century commercial buildings line North Main Street, giving the area a historic character. Rockford Dam, located on the Rogue River at Bridge Street, is one of the town's highlights, offering river views, picnicking, and direct access to the water for fishing. The Rogue River Nature Trail begins in Peppler Park west of the dam, following a quarter-mile boardwalk along the riverbank. Rockford also provides access to the White Pine Trail State Park, a 92-mile rail-trail running from Grand Rapids to Cadillac.
