Kenelm Winslow I

  • English

Kenelm Winslow was an early Plymouth Colony settler and younger brother of Governor Edward Winslow. Born in Droitwich, Worcestershire, he migrated to New England in the 1630s and married Eleanor Newton Adams, the widow of John Adams a kinsman of US President John Adams. Winslow became a respected figure in Marshfield, where he served in local civic roles and raised a large family. He died while visiting his daughter in Salem and was buried there, though a cenotaph bearing his name stands in the Old Winslow Burying Ground in Marshfield. His life reflects the broad Winslow family network that helped shape the colony's early social and political landscape. - AsNotedIn
