Joaquin Torres Garcia
Uruguayian
Joaquin Torres Garcia was a prominent Uruguayan and Spanish artist, theorist, and educator, widely recognized as the father of Constructive Universalism. Notable highlights of his career include founding the influential Taller Torres Garcia and bridging the European avant–garde with South American identity. Born in Montevideo and raised in Barcelona, Spain, his signature style combined modernist geometric structures with ancient Pre–Columbian symbols, a synthesis that transformed 20th–century art. Today, his legacy is preserved in the Torres Garcia Museum and through the work of his children, including the artist Olympia Torres. - AsNotedIn
