Frederic Pike Stearns was a notable American civil engineer who served with marked ability as Chief Engineer of the Massachusetts State Board of Health and later of the Massachusetts Metropolitan Water Works. He was the son of William Henry Clark Stearns and Mary Hobbs Hill Stearns, and a lineal descendant of Isaac Stearns, who emigrated from England with the company of John Winthrop to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630, and there established himself at Watertown, Massachusetts. In the honorable profession of civil engineering Frederic P Stearns rendered important service to the Commonwealth, particularly in the advancement of public water supply and sanitary works for the growing communities of the Boston district. - AsNotedIn
