Lucius Junius Polk

• American

Lucius Junius Polk, son of Colonel William Polk, served in the Tennessee State Senate representing Maury County in 1831 and later held the post of Adjutant General of Tennessee. He married Mary Ann Eastin — niece of Rachel Jackson — at the White House, linking the Polk family to the presidential household during Andrew Jackson's administration. Lucius built Hamilton Place in 1832, the earliest and most Georgian of the four notable Polk houses in the Ashwood community. - AsNotedIn
