Capt Edward Lansing Satterlee, U S R S C 40, one of the best known architects of New York, died of typhoid fever at Clermont Ferrand, France, December 4. He was a member of the firm of Satterlee and Boyd. His home was at 125 West Fifty-eighth street -lost). Born at Dobbs Ferry, Capt Satterlee was a son of Mr and Mrs Edward Rathbone Satterlee. He was educated at St Paul's School, New Hampshire, and then was graduated from Columbia University School of Architecture in 1899. Later he studied architecture at the Ecole Nationale et Speciale des Beaux-Arts. He specialized in memorial and ecclesiastical structure and residence buildings; and was architect of the chapel for Zion Church and the memorial to President McKinley at Hamburg, NY; the Little Sanctuary and All Hallows Gate on the cathedral at Washington, and the residence of Admiral A T Mahan at Quogue, LI. He was a member of the University and Columbia University clubs.
